SYDNEY, Feb 25 (Reuters) – A top Australian central banker said on Wednesday that policy judgments were more difficult now given the economy was close to balance and inflation was high but not taking off again.
Speaking at a university dinner in Melbourne, Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Michele Bullock said patience was needed on policy.
Data earlier in the day showed inflation surprised on the high side again in January, as markets narrowed the odds on a rate hike in May after the rise this month.
